Ήταν ο βρικόλακας Barnabas Collins στην αμερικάνικη σαπουνόπερα υπερφυσικού τρόμου Dark Shadows (1967 - 1971). Επανέλαβε τον ρόλο του και στην κινηματογραφική μεταφορά House of Dark Shadows (1970). Φαν της σειράς υπήρξε και ο μικρούλης Johnny Depp που ονειρευόταν να είναι ο Barnabas. Τελικά έχει την ευκαιρία να τον παίξει στην φετεινή κινηματογραφική εκδοχή, σε σκηνοθεσία Tim Burton βεβαίως. Όχι από τους αγαπημένους μου σκηνοθέτες, ήταν περισσότερο βιντεοκλιπάς και του έλειπε η εικονική μαεστρία του αδελφού του. Έβγαλε όμως αξιομνημόνευτες ταινίες. Κρίμα σίγουρα να μας αφήσει με τον τραγικό τρόπο που επέλεξε, ποιος ξέρει γιατί. Ήταν 68 ετών και είχε ανακοινωθεί ότι θα σκηνοθετούσε το Top Gun 2.
