Ας μιλήσουμε για βρικόλακες. Σου προτείνω να κάτσεις αναπαυτικά˙ αυτό θα πάρει λίγη ώρα. Καταρχήν, να σου πω ότι δεν πρόκειται να ασχοληθώ καθόλου με το κομμάτι που αφορά το βρικόλακα ως λαϊκή παράδοση, αλλά μόνο με το βρικόλακα στη λογοτεχνία. Θα το κάνω αυτό για δύο λόγους: πρώτον, δεν έχω την απαραίτητη γνώση για να το κάνω και, δεύτερον, η εικόνα που έχουν στο μυαλό τους οι περισσότεροι άνθρωποι σήμερα για το βρικόλακα πηγάζει πρωτίστως από την ποπ κουλτούρα και δευτερευόντως από όποια έρευν
