"...if a just-married couple put a coin in a jar every time they make love in their first year and take a coin out for every time that they make love in the years that follow, the jar will never be emptied."

από το Isabel Allente, My invented country, με ένα μεγάλο ευχαριστώ στη melkiades. :)

"'Poor Finnick. Is this the first time in your life you haven't looked pretty?' I say.

'It must be. The sensation's completely new. How have you managed it all these years?' he asks.

'Just avoid mirrors. You'll forget about it,' I say.

'Not if I keep looking at you.'"

"Dolgan: ’Tis a wise thing to know what is wanted, and wiser still to know when ‘tis achieved.

Rhuagh: True. And still wiser to know when it is unachievable, for then striving is folly."

Winter is coming...

Από τη σειρά "A song of Ice and Fire".

Why is it that when one man builds a wall, the next man immediately needs to know what's on the other side?

Aπό το Going Postal του Terry Pratchett, ο ήρωας Moist von Lipwig, απατεώνας στο επάγγελμα, συζητά με έναν ιερέα:

The priest was impressed. "Are you a theologian, sir?" he said.

"I'm in... a similar line of work," said Moist.

Από το The Salmon of Doubt, το βιβλίο που κυκλοφόρησε μετά την πρόωρη και ξαφνική φυγή του Douglas Adams.

Jane, who is much better at reading guide books than I am (I always read them on the way back to see what I missed, and it's often quite a shock), discovered something wonderful in the book she was reading. Did I know, she asked, that Brisbane was originally founded as a penal colony for convicts who committed new offences after they had arrived in Australia?

I spent a good half hour enjoying this single piece of information. It was wanderful. There we Brittish sat, poor grey sodden creatures, huddling under our grey northern sky that seeped like a rancid dish cloth, busy sending those we wished to punish most severely to sit in bright sunlight on the coast of the Tasman Sea at the southern tip of the Great Barrier Reef, and maybe do some surfing too. No wander the Australians have a particular kindof smile that they reserve exclusively for use on the Brittish.

Από I am not a serial Killer-Dan Wells

he'd probably kill my whole family too, just out of vengeance(Well everyone in the family but Dad-good luck finding him.Sometimes it pays to be estranged from your psychopathic son)

και μερικά από Dresden Files

The building was on fire, and it wasn’t my fault.(καλύτερη ατάκα για άνοιγμα βιβλίου EVER)-Blood Rites

"If I need you I'll give you a signal.'

What signal?"

I'll imitate the scream of a terrified little girl" -Dead Beat

"Molly was arrested. Possession.”

I blinked at him. “She was possessed?" -Proven Guilty

και μια badassila για το τέλος

- Did you really save the world ?...

- Mostly I was saving my own ass. Just happend that the world was in the same spot." -Blood Rites

If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don't feel like going into it, if you want to know the truth.

When a man you know to be of sound mind tells you his recently deceased mother has just tried to climb his bedroom window and eat him, you only have two basic options. You can smell his breath, take his pulse and check his pupils to see if he's ingested anything nasty, or you can believe him. Ringil had already tried the first course of action with Bashka the Schoolmaster and to no avail, so he put down his pint with an elaborate sigh and went to get his broadsword.

Richard Morgan, The Steel Remains.

''The bathroom door burst open, and Molly came trotting out. The left half of her body had been shaved almost down to the skin. The right half was as shaggy as before. John emerged after her, brushing a layer of dog hair off his clothes.

John said, "Well, that's done... It was Molly's idea. She wants to look like two different dogs when she's coming and going. She thinks it will make it easier for her to steal food... That's one complicated dog, Dave. Have you started on the bomb?''

-David Wong, John Dies at the End

“The situation has a real Lovecraft feel to it. Though, you know, if you come over it'll be more of an Anne Rice situation. If you know what I mean."

"Who's-"

"Because you're gay.”
