Refuse to edit, correct spelling or grammar, for to do so is to corrupt the free flow of genius from unconscious to paper. To edit is to compromise your art.

 

Talk more. If you do not tell people how clever you are, how will they know? Certainly not through your writing - they are too stupid to understand. Use more long words so everyone realises how ignorant they are. Bemoan the disillusioning failure of structuralist metalanguage. Reject structuralism, and reject it loudly.

 

Collect your growing pile of rejections. Each one is a validation of your genius - you are too far ahead of your time.

 

Value the one acceptance in the obscure webzine www.weresodesperatewellpublishanything.com . Praise the editor, for although he is also stupid and unworthy, he had the sense to recognise that you are a genius.

 

Talk more. Quote Proust. Tell everyone who'll listen (and listen they will, for you are a genius) how you reject the outdated Chekovian model of storytelling, De Maupassant, Joyce - in fact you reject all writers who went before you for their decadence and their slavish observance of the twin evil conventions of spelling and grammar. Except maybe Kant and Hegel; everyone else is rejecting them, so maybe it's time to re-evaluate them. Try to use fin-de-siecle at least once per conversation. But mispronounce it in a post-modern, ironic way.

 

Try to write as little as possible. You are a tortured, misunderstood soul, it is only right that you should suffer from writer's block more than the lower orders would. You do not write, you create, and that's hard when the world is against you.

 

Smile smugly, for you know that after you're gone the rest of the world will catch up with you and you will be recognised as a genius, albeit posthumously.

Εννοείται, ρε συ. Γιαυτό κι εγώ το πόσταρα εδώ: για να πείτε απόψεις. Οπότε, πείτε ό,τι απόψεις γουστάρετε' δεν υπάρχει πρόβλημα.

 

Εγώ, προσωπικά, είδα το κείμενο ως τι δεν πρέπει να κάνει κάποιος. Αντί να σου λέει "κάνε αυτό, αυτό, κι αυτό", σου λέει με ειρωνικό τρόπο "κάνε αυτή τη μλκ, αυτή, αυτή, κι αυτή". Είναι η κλασική περίπτωση αντιστροφής ενός ζητήματος, για να το εκλαμβάνει ο εγκέφαλος από διαφορετική οπτική γωνία.

Η ειρωνία είναι γλυκιά όταν χρησιμοποιείται με μέτρο και εδώ, προσωπικά, μου αρέσει.

 

Κάποια σχόλια τώρα. Νομίζω ότι πολλά από αυτά που προτίνει ο γράφων να (μη) χρησιμοποιούμε μπορούν να εντοπιστούν και σε πολλά γραπτά "ένδοξων συγγραφέων". Το ότι τα χρησιμοποιώ κι εγώ πολλές φορές, εννοείται. Άθελά μου τις περισσότερες φορές, αλλά οφείλω να ομολογήσω ότι όχι πάντα.

Αυτό το έχω δει να συμβαίνει πολλές φορές. Όχι ότι αναγκαστικά ο συγγραφέας δε γνωρίζει τι σημαίνει κάποια λέξη, αλλά ίσως τη χρησιμοποιεί για να εντυπωσιάσει και μόνο. Δεν κολλάει πολλές φορές εκεί που τη χρησιμοποιεί.

Αν κάποιος θεωρεί πολύ σημαντικό το να γράφει και να αποτυπώνει αυθόρμητα ό,τι του έρχεται εκείνη τη στιγμή, μπορεί να νοιώσει σε μικρό ή και μεγαλύτερο βαθμό ότι το να "διορθώσει" το γραπτό του είναι κάτι το άσχημο και το επίπονο. Δεν το έχετε αισθανθεί; Εγώ πάντως ναι.

Σε αυτό κολλάει επίσης η απάντηση του πρώτου quote. Η προσπάθεια "εξαπάτησης" του αναγνώστη για να δημιουργήσει καλύτερη εντύπωση για το συγγραφέα. Το έχω αισθανθεί όταν διαβάζω κάτι μερικές φορές.

Καλό είναι να μην αποθαρρυνόμαστε από τις άσχημες κριτικές. Αλλά αυτό σημαίνει ότι πρέπει να προσπαθούμε περισσότερο, όχι να τις μετατρέψουμε σε κάτι θετικό ώστε να έχουμε τη συνείδησή μας ήσυχη.

Συμφωνώ με αυτά που είπε ο Βάρδος και ο Ελσανορ. Το κείμενο είναι χιουμοριστικό και σατιρικό μάλλον, παρά ειρωνικό. Άσε που δεν έχει άδικο γιατί αυτά που λέει τα έχω παρατηρήσει τόσο σε συγγραφείς, όσο και στους μαθητές μου στα Αγγλικά, που προσπαθούν να διορθώσουν η να καλύψουν διάφορα κακώς κείμενα χρησμιποιώντας λογοτεχνικίζουσες λέξεις, πράγμα που συνήθως έχει σαν αποτέλεσμα τα "κακώς κείμενα" να φαίνονται ακόμα πιο έντονα.

Northerain, θα διαφωνήσω μαζί σου, ακριβώς επειδή κάποτε κι εμείς είμασταν παιδάκαι που δεν είχαν σχέση με τη συγγραφή. Χίλιες φορές να τα διαβάσουν και να γράψουν λίιιιιιιιγο καλύτερα, παρά να αναμασούν κλισέ.

Δε νομίζω να αφορά μόνο παιδάκια. Σίγουρα υπάρχουν τέτοιοι άνθρωποι. Το κείμενο νομίζω δε προσπαθεί να μας δώσει συμβουλές, απλά διακομωδεί τους τύπους αυτούς.

Το ξαναπέτυχα μόλις τώρα και πραγματικά ένα χαιρέκακο χαμόγελο χαράχτηκε στο πρόσωπό μου. Αναφέρεται στην "υψηλή" τέχνη απαξιωτικά, στα "ποζέρια" του γραπτού λόγου, ίσως και λίγο ειρωνικά προς όλο το είδος της μεταμοντέρνας λογοτεχνείας, της λογικής της ελλάσσωνας προσπάθειας και του εγκεφαλικού αυνανισμού που παρεξηγείται ως μεγαλοφυία.
