odesseo
Ένα τμήμα από την εισαγωγή: FOR CENTURIES HUMAN BEINGS have been perplexed by the self destructiveness of their own species. Wars, feuds, persecution, bigotry, intolerance, brutality, oppression and corruption have dominated every age of human history, leading many people to condemn the human race as inherently evil. Religions have characterised humankind as intrinsically flawed, possessed of original sin and struggling to surpass its evil nature to find a more holy existence. In the 20th century theorists have examined the human race's ancestry, the structure of the brain, the action of hormones, the political system, the monetary system, the class system, child-rearing practices and even diet as an explanation of human behaviour. This book sets out to show that human behaviour is not a product of instinct nor of any particular social, political or economic system but the result of ongoing battles between self-replicating systems of thought, battles in which human beings are mere pawns but over which they have, mercifully, some control.
