Πριν πάω Αμερική, εδώ στην Ελλάδα διάλεγα να βλέπω αμερικάνικες ταινίες. Όταν λοιπόν πήγα Αμερική, πίστευα ο βλάχος πως έπρεπε να βλέπω ό,τι βγαίνει. Το τι ανάγκασα τον εαυτό μου να δει δε λέγεται. Κι αυτή τη ταινία, που είχε όμως την Tawny. Διάβασε παρακάτω: Editorial Reviews Amazon.com So bad it's good, the notorious Gwendoline is one of those outrageously entertaining camp classics that will be enjoyed long after thousands of "better" movies have faded into obscurity. Loosely adapted from John Willie's pioneering 1940s comic strip "The Adventures of Sweet Gwendoline," and directed with good-natured humor by French softcore specialist Just Jaekin (Emmanuelle, The Story of O), this delirious dose of mainstream erotica plays like a sexy parody of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone. In his own audacious fashion, Jaekin was attempting an ambitious, good-looking adventure with above-average production values, but Gwendoline owes its "bad movie" cult status to its cheesy combination of globe-hopping scenery, tacky sets, hopelessly wretched dialogue, laughably awful acting, and a constant parade of beautiful women, either half-naked or scantily clad in outrageous S&M costumes. The film is also notorious for being the screen debut of Tawny Kitaen (shortly before she appeared with Tom Hanks Bachelor Party), who brings a breathtaking lack of talent (and a very hot body) to her title role as Gwendoline, a scrappy stowaway who arrives in China on a quest to find her missing father, who'd ventured into remote jungles in search of a rare and beautiful butterfly. Joined by hunky mercenary Willard (Brent Huff) and her loopy friend Beth (played by French model/actress Zabou), Gwendoline survives a variety of absurdly amusing obstacles (including one very phony-looking alligator) until they eventually reach the land of the Yik Yak, an Amazonian slave-culture consisting entirely of slim, sexy women! Through it all, Jaekin's image of women is a source of constant fascination: When they're not kicking ass or running around topless, Kitaen and Zabou act like helpless, virginal airheads who need a man to survive, and Gwendoline plays out like an adolescent wet dream. With a climactic chariot chase that must be seen to be believed, it's all so ridiculous that you can't help but be entertained, and Jaekin's 106-minute, French-language director's cut contains several action scenes that were cut for the film's English-dubbed 88-minute American version, released (and available separately) as The Perils of Gwendoline in the Land of the Yik Yak. --Jeff Shannon On the DVD Jaekin's original cut has been spectacularly restored for this Severin Films DVD release, with both French and English audio tracks and a delightful commentary by Jaekin with journalist/author Tony Crawley and Frederick Levier, former contributor to Starfix, a French magazine devoted to fantastic films; their unabashed enthusiasm for the film makes this commentary an unexpected treat. Oberon Posted April 18, 2007 Share Posted April 18, 2007 (edited) Άργησα να εκτιμήσω την Elvira - "the girl who brought the boob back in the boob tube" - αλλά είχε την πρώτη ταινία της σε προσφορά κάπου, και φαγώθηκα ώσπου βρήκα και τη δεύτερη. Αμφότερες έχουν πάρει το χρυσό βατόμουρο δίκαια και άξια, αλλά είναι απ'αυτές που λες "It's so bad it's good". Τώρα παίρνω και το κόμικ με την Εlvira. Ειδικά για την πρώτη ταινία, ποιος μπορεί να ξεχάσει - αυτό μου το είπαν άλλοι όταν είδαν στον κινηματογράφο το Εlvira, Mistress of the Dark, εκείνη τη φράση από το ξόρκι που κάνει ο διαβολικός θείος της όταν την πλησιάζει και λύθηκε όλο το σινεμά από τα γέλια ή το νούμερο στο Λας Βέγκας στο τέλος? Αναρωτιέμαι αν τελικά θα γίνει εκείνο το reality show που ήταν στα σκαριά για την ανάδειξη της επόμενης Elvira, μια που η Cassandra Peterson, η οποία πλησιάσει τα 60, θέλει να "συνταξιοδοτηθεί". Η κορη του Ντ Αρτανιαν Σε αυτη τη ταινια της ( η 3η που ειχα δει ) την ερωτευτικα ( οκ ναι μου κανουν κατι οι κοπελες με τα rapiers ) Braveheart Αννα Καρενινα Marquise Ονειρο καλοκαιρινης νυκτός Τζιμης μποντ και η πρωτη φορα που τον ζηλεψα ο κοσμος δεν ειναι αρκετος... BunnyDee Posted April 18, 2007 Share Posted April 18, 2007 I was impressed με το thread και το ποσες ('ολες, φιλε, ολες' οπως αναφωνησα στο φιλο μου που καθεται στο διπλανο PC ενθουσιασμενη, με τις Farscape και 2-3 ταινιες που δεν εχω δει ως εξαιρεσεις, προκειται... χμμμ... για συλλογη 'ολων' των hot, hot, hot υπαρξεων απο την ιστορια της μεγαλης η μικρης οθονης και εχει τυχει να παιξουν σε κατι που μπορει με καποιον ορισμο να θεωρηθει sff - αν και για μενα πχ το Being John Malkovich ειναι πιο fantasy απο το The Mask για να μπει η Cameron Diaz στη λιστα). Αλλα πρεπει να προσθεσω, ονομαστικα τουλαχιστον γιατι δε μου βρισκονται φωτογραφιες ηδη σηκωμενες στο photobucket (ενα απλο search στο google images θα μπορουσε να βοηθησει, αλλα η απαντηση μου ειναι βιαστικη, ισως επανορθωσω) την Jewel Staite και τη Morena Baccarin - αντε και τη Summer Glau την κακομοιρα, αφου την αγαπαει ο Master Whedon - που εγω τουλαχιστον τις 'γνωρισα' απ' το Firefly, και την Shannyn Sossamon που πες οτι μπαινει στη λιστα επειδη επαιξε στο Knight's Tale (αλλα εγω τη θεωρω hot ετσι κι αλλιως).
